More Info

For those who love the landmark series Inspector Montalbano written by Andrea Camilleri, The Vanishing of Patò is a witty mystery drama you are sure to enjoy. Fans will recognise the rich array of diverse and fascinating characters, and the author’s passion for the highs and lows of Italian culture all set in the fertile landscape of Sicily.

Starring Nino Frassica and Maurizio Casagrande, the storyline involves one of the town’s most upstanding citizens, a local banker, who has seemingly disappeared. Last seen as the role of Judas in the town of Vigàta’s annual Passion Play, Antonio Patò vanished without even taking a bow, leaving no trace of evidence behind him. Questions are asked as to whether he was kidnapped or even murdered. Additionally, what has the death of a leading Mafioso and the murder of another man’s wife have to do with it all?

The investigation is led by two opposing forces; a local Sicilian carabinier and a Neapolitan police officer - one soldier of the south and one detective of the north. These opposites attract false leads and ridicule from the citizens of Vigàta, but gradually they begin to stumble upon a path that will lead them to a very unwelcome truth.

This DVD release also includes Andrea Camilleri: The Wild Maestro; an extensive interview and exploration of the life of the acclaimed and much-loved author.
