Dame Agatha Christie (1890 – 1976) is known throughout the world as the Queen of Crime. Her books are translated into 50 languages and sold in over 100 countries, with over a billion copies sold in English and another billion in foreign languages. Christie is the most widely published author of all time and is outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare. She is the author of 80 crime novels and short story collections, six novels written under the name Mary Westmacott and 19 plays including The Mousetrap, the longest running play in West End history. Christie’s most famous literary creations include the detectives Hercule PoirotMiss Marple and Tommy & Tuppence.

2015 marks her 125th anniversary and there will be events and celebrations throughout the year. Look out for your chance to vote for the World’s Favourite Christie book, and make sure you visit the International Agatha Christie Festival in her birthplace of Torquay, England, from 11th-19th September.
