More Info

Series One:
Miriam Margolyes OBE, Wayne Sleep OBE, Sylvester McCoy, Roy Walker, Rosemary Shrager, Bobby George, Patti Boulaye OBE and Jam Leeming travel to India to live together for three weeks. In a guest house in Jaipur, the group learn what it might be like to retire in India, and look at the benefits and challenges of living abroad.

As part of their journey our contributors run their own household, explore the local sights, take part in traditional activities, learn to cook Indian cuisine, meet local families and immerse themselves in the Indian lifestyle. They also take train journeys to famous Indian cities, such as Agra and Varanasi, and make an emotional visit to the Taj Mahal.

Series Two:
Lionel Blair, Amanda Barrie, Dennis Taylor, Rustie Lee, Miriam Stoppard, Bill Oddie, Sheila Ferguson, Paul Nicholas head to India on an experimental adventure to see if they would consider retiring to the other side of the world. Travelling thousands of miles from home to land in Kochi, a city in the southwest Indian state Kerala, will the group prefer to retire here or in the UK?

Series Three:
The series follows comedian Syd Little; TV presenter and journalist Selina Scott; actress Stephanie Beacham; Grand National winning jockey Bob Champion; writer and former politician Stanley Johnson; actress Susan George; Krankies double act Janette and Ian Tough; and Eastenders actor Peter Dean; as they head five thousand miles from home to India to spend a month in the beautiful city of Udaipur in Rajasthan to determine whether they could have a better, more rewarding retirement here than in the UK. Will the challenges of adjusting to the environment, the food, the customs and the climate be too much of a culture shock for them and put them off or will they fall in love with India and its abundance of charm, stunning scenery and welcoming people?
