Episode Guide
1. The Dark Rider - First Broadcast: 1st February 2012
Bentham DeQuetteville falls to his death from the roof of Quitewell Hall after the appearance of a headless horseman. The eccentric DeQuettevilles seem unmoved by their loss – the show must go on. Nothing must be allowed to get in the way of the family’s annual re-enactment of the Battle of Naseby. However, Bentham’s death is the first of many, all preceded by sightings of the headless horseman.
Barnaby and Jones delve into the DeQuetteville’s history and uncover family myths and legends. But will they discover the truth about the DeQuettevilles and the ghostly rider?
2. Murder of Innocence - First Broadcast: 21st March 2012
When a barrister is killed in Midsomer, suspicion falls on convicted murderer Grady Felton. Grady has just returned to the village where he committed the murder years ago amid much anger from locals. But Grady has a solid alibi. Barnaby suspects he is working with an accomplice – until Grady himself is targeted in an arson attack.
3. Written in the Stars - First Broadcast: 25th September 2012
As darkness covers Midsomer Stanton during a total eclipse of the sun, Jeremy Harper is killed by a blow to the head with a meteorite. He was a leading light in the village - an amateur astronomer who was passionate about preserving Moonstone Ridge, a Bronze Age heritage site housing a 1930s observatory. Barnaby and Jones are called in to investigate and discover that intrigue, sexual tension and academic rivalry are rife among the local stargazing community.
4. Death and the Divas - First Broadcast: 2nd January 2013
The murder of a journalist has chilling echoes of a 1960s horror film starring Midsomer’s own Stella Harris. When Stella’s more famous sister returns after a 40-year family rift, the killings escalate, each of them reminiscent of a movie plot. Is life – and death – imitating art?
5. The Sicilian Defence - First Broadcast: 9th January 2013
Harriet Farmer wakes up after being in a coma since the night she tried to elope. Soon afterwards, a killer strikes members of a chess club. Could the attack which left Harriet for dead a year ago be linked to moves on a chess board? And where is her boyfriend Finn?
6. Schooled in Murder - First Broadcast: 30th January 2013
When Debbie Moffett (Martine McCutcheon) is crushed to death with a giant round of cheese at the home of the world-famous Midsomer Blue, secret and controversial plans to modernise the dairy are revealed while rumours about private lives of the parents cause a row at the prestigious local prep school. As other people linked to the dairy meet agonising deaths, long-held secrets start to emerge.
